Kimber Micro 380 Concealed Carry Review

Review of the Kimber Micro .380 as a concealed carry firearm. - www.BakingWithBullets.com

When I first began shooting firearms my husband (boyfriend at the time) was always shopping for his next gun. I remember asking him “Why do you need more than one gun?” The tables have now turned. The Kimber Micro .380 was actually my second firearm purchase. My first firearm purchase was the Walther PPK.

After attempting to conceal carry my Walther PPK as my first firearm. I decided I wanted something a little lighter. Being focused on the beauty and history of guns I chose a 1911 style gun, the Kimber Micro .380.

What appeals most to you about this gun?

I find the 1911 style of the gun appealing, I like to classic gun look. The size and weight of the gun is perfect to conceal carry. This firearm fits well in my hand, I find it to be comfortable to shoot.

What is this gun like to shoot?

The trigger pull is light and smooth. The slide is easy to rack. This firearm is easy to handle and fun to shoot.

The sights on this firearm are decent, and easy to see. When I purchased this gun I did not get the upgraded night sights. My Kimber Micro has the basic 3-dot sights.

How reliable is this gun?

When shooting the Kimber Micro .380 I do have malfunctions. I find this firearm continues to try and “double feed” ammo. At first my husband and I thought it was a possible grip issue causing the malfunction. I continued to try and work on my grip with this firearm but unfortuantely did not get consistent positive results.

We also tested the malfunctions with my husband shooting the firearm, obviously his grip would be different from mine. He did not get as many malfunctions but still had a few.

Due to the inconsistency in malfunctions and proper feeding of ammunition, I would not consider this gun to be reliable.

Any problems with certain types of ammo?

We tried several different types of ammo with this firearm and there was no notable change in it’s performance.

Is it easy to take down and clean this gun?

Yes, I found it very easy to take down and clean this gun as well as reassembling.

What did you dislike about shooting this gun, if anything?

The only thing I disliked about the gun is the double feed malfunctions.

Would you recommend this gun?

I would not recommend this gun as a conceal carry gun. This gun is fun to shoot and great for any 1911 gun collection.

Happy Carrying,
